Bar C Quarter Horse Prospects

"If you are fond of a horse and wish to do him a real favour- train him well. Teach him good manners, good habits, both in the stable and under saddle. You need never worry about the future of such a horse if for any reason you may have to part with him. You assure him of friends wherever he goes. Perhaps the greatest kindness you can do to any horse is to educate him well." -Tom Roberts

With all of my sale horses, I like to cultivate a working relationship with the buyer, or to sell to someone I currently have a business or personal relationship with. My goal with horses is not to make a quick buck, It is to produce quality, safe horses that will find the best possible fit. It is to make sure all of the horses out of my program go through life understood.

Every year 1 buy 1-2 young AQHA horses to start and then add into my every day riding string in the hopes of selling them as performance horse prospects. We are currently in the works of creating our own breeding program, based around horses with good and gentle minds and the athletic ability to excel in the performance arena. I am so excited for this journey and cannot wait to be selling horses out of our own breeding program.

"Ember"

YC Zans Blue Corona or "Ember" is a 2018 registered AQHA. By a Grandson of Corona Cartel and out of a Granddaughter of Skip Zan Parr. Ember is 14.3 hh but do not let her small size fool you, she is a gritty mare that can go all day. She can dig down deep in the trenches with you and then still trot 5 miles home. She is flashy enough to catch everyones eye in the branding pen and fancy enough take her to town. She is correct, sure footed, stout and always game for a full days work.

I purchased Ember as a long yearling, she was started as a 2 year old and she has been my main mount for the last 3 years. She has done all aspects of ranch work, dragging calves to the fire, doctoring, sorting, etc. She has been on pack trips in the Alberta rockies, she has been to Arizona 3 years in a row, many trips out west and all over Manitoba for Barrel Futurities. I ran Ember her futurity year. She is currently a 3D horse at a small show and a 4D horse at a big show, with lots of room for improvement as her barrel career had a late start. I have been putting a breakaway foundation on her and she shows great promise. We have taken her into the team roping arena as well. We have just started heeling off of her and I believe she would excel as a heel horse. She is quick and small and can stop on a dime.

Ember is hobble broke, she ground ties, self loads in trailer, bathes well, good with feet, hauls well and has been seasoned at lots of jackpots.

Ember would be the perfect candidate for an all around horse. Cowboy on her during the week and haul her to a rodeo on the weekend.

As she is such a strong and forward mare, I would suggest Ember needs a strong and confident rider. She is safe, with no buck, rear or bolt. However, She is a strong mare and a lot of horse.

Royal

"The Golden Finch" is by a son of sun frost and out of a grand daughter of Docs Paradise. 15 hh. I purchased Royal as a 2 year old and started her myself. To this day she has been the easiest horse I have ever started. She is a very kind and gentle mare with an eagerness to please. She was started in May of 2022 where I put a 60 day foundation on her, followed by a trip to the mountains where she carried a light set of panniers and followed along on a backcountry pack trip The goal being to show her what an honest days work entails, without being hard on her young body. Royal has crossed large roaring rivers, bogs, switchbacks and all sorts of terrain. She has the grit and the mental toughness to last all day and never quit you. She was then kicked out to pasture for the remaining summer and fall to grow and just be a horse. Since then Royal has spent 2 winters in Arizona, she has been to countless clinics, she has been hauled to lots of jackpots (for the experience, not to compete) and practice pens. I have done some cow horse work with Royal. She has a solid start on the barrel pattern and I have been breakaway roping on her since September of 2023. Royal is very broke in the body, she is very correct on her leads, broke in the bridle, collects beautifully and stops hard. She is cowy, rope broke, hobble broke, bathes well, good with feet, self loads in trailer, ground ties, very quiet on trail and she hauls very well. Royal will be my main riding horse until she sells. If she is with me long enough I will futurity her in Barrels and start hauling her to breakaway jackpots.

I believe that Royal has the potential to be a intermediate/ kids horse one day as she is so quiet and gentle. But for now Royal is best suited for an experienced rider as she is a very athletic mare. I think she will excel in the rodeo arena and I hope to see her sold as a performance horse.

Annie

SOLD.

Annie is a draft cross mare I purchased from a Japan horse exporter, as she was culled because she did not meet the weight requirements to go. I bought her as an untouched 2 year old. I spent 6-8 months gentling her before I started her under saddle. She was lightly packed as a 3 year old in the mountains on a backcountry pack trip where we were in the mountains for 14 days. On that trip she learned to cross bog, rivers, switch backs, and all sorts of rugged terrain. She was shod, hobbled, packed, ridden and she learned what an honest days work entails. She has been on two pack trips since, both packed and ridden. Annie has been on numerous cattle drives, she has helped me sort and pen in the mud and the rain and never once did she offer to give up or tire. She has come on many trips out west with me, been to many different styles of riding clinics and has tried her heart out at absolutely everything I have tossed her way. Every job I have used Annie for, she has shown up confident and game to tackle the task at hand. She is 15.3 hh, strong, sure footed and built to tackle the long circle rides. She has been roped off of lots but has never doctored live cattle just yet. She has a thorough understanding of her leads, a solid start to collection and she stops on a dime. Don't let the "draft cross" stereotype fool you, Annie quick on her feet and stops hard. She is a forward mare who likes to cover ground out on the circle. But a puppy dog in the pasture and she loves cuddles. She is great with her feet, ground ties, self loads in trailer and loves bathes.

I was fortunate enough to sell Annie to the best possible home I could ever have hoped for her. And I was lucky enough to gain a great friend in the process.
